are stomach virus' contagious?
i have a whopper, well im feeling slightly better today after spending much of yesterday either asleep or in the bathroom  but I am worried DS might catch it? i don't know if its a virus or food poisoning 
i had a fever, severe stomach cramping and (tmi) diarrhea yesterday. i hope this is not something he can catch. im functional today and at work, still having stomach cramping but otherwise OK.
is something going around   ugh.

You're not going to like the answer 
I find that in my house, stomach viruses are the hardest thing to contain to one person. They usually hit everyone in the house.
I really hope your DS doesnt catch it.

Unfortunately, they are very contagious. My son brought a stomach bug home right before the winter break and we all got it one after another.

oh no- I hope he doesnt get it Karin! Could be that he picked it up at daycare and it didnt affect him but you got the brunt of it- at least I hope thats what happened
keep his fluids up and the vitamins too

Very. I had a BAD one on tuesday, ds was sick by Thursday, and dh was sick by Saturday. It was a 24 hour bug but it was terrible. It is going around unfortunately. My brother and his family had it the week before us. Than my mom and brother got it at their house.

Highly contagious. I would make sure you wash your hands a lot, and stay away from your co-workers too.

thanks everyone. i slept on the couch last night to be away from DH and he was with DS all of yesterday. i will do my best to prevent passing it to anyone

Sanitize, sanitize, sanitize! Wash your hands all the time, use clorox wipes on all door handles, faucets etc. Remote control, home phone, your cell. You get the idea.
It's very contagious, but the stomach virus that's going around seems to be the 24 hour variety. FEEL BETTER!

yes, i think its short lived. I started to feel crappy around 8am yesterday and am feeling 70% better now!

The stomach virus made it into our house twice last year. I got it both times. I *think* DH got it only one of those times. DS got it both times, but it was sooooooo much more mild for him. He did not vomit like I did, and he always acted pretty normally. So there is hope!

This...wash, clean, quarantine.
ETA: we never pass it in our house. I HATE that bug. He gets it and he becomes bubble boy as far as I'm concerned. STAY AWAY from me and Wash everything. I literally hand him a container of Chloride wipes and point him to the guest room. Don't use AJ's bathroom, clean everything as you go. Then I clean up behind him just in case he forgot or didn't do it well enough.
I HATE being sick. so we try not to pass anything around.

As everyone else said...yup very contagious. DD had one a few months ago, then her nanny got it, then it hit my preggo butt. THAT was an awful weekend in our household.

yep... i was away this past wknd with my entire fam. first my 2yo nephew had it... then my sis, then bil, then other bil, then my two nieces, then my mom, and now DH. we got home yesterday morning and DH got sick overnight last night/early this morning. i'm praying me and DD don't get it but... idk how realistic that is at this point.

My son's entire class got it except for my son. It skipped me and my husband got wiped out for three days. Stomach viruses are EXTREMELY contagious its just that different people take it differently.

Very. Thought, last year everyone in my house got it except my then 2yo. Started with my 1yo, then me shortly after, then DH.
Several mths later, my 2yo got a terrible stomach bug that I think was a virus, but nobody else in the house got sick--so I am not sure what it was in the end.
