Re: Are there any wineries that are close to each other??
They are pretty much one right after the other on 25 or Sound Ave
Some people will even take one route (say Sound ave) going east and see those wineries then make a u-turn and then come down 25 when going back west

Re: Are there any wineries that are close to each other??
IMO that is a lot for one day...so i don't recommend that unless you know exactly the wineries that you want to hit.
If it is a first time or one the firsts
I suggest that you do the rt 25 wineries
take it to the furthest east winery you want to go then work your way back
But either way they ar in relatively close proximity to each other

If it were me...I would come North and take the LIE to the end , you will be pass the Tanger Outlets and then keep on following it out east... I think they start closing at about 5-6

Well i would i would recommend going to Opsrey Dominion (the furthest east on the 25 route) and then work you way back..
I like Pindar, Laurel Lake, Paumanok, Pelligrini Other people really like Bedell and Corey Creek and Raphael

Re: Are there any wineries that are close to each other??
go to liwines.com print a map out of the vineyards
take 495 all the way to the end and just continue on main street. after passing the outlets and car dealerships, a few miles down is the start of the vineyards.
my favorites are paumanok, galluccio (2 tasting rooms there - 1 for li wines and 1 for upstate wines (sweet fruity wines) ) bedell, corey creek, vineyard 48, sherwood house, shinn, ospreys dominion
if you dont like huge crowds, stay away from pindar, osprey and martha clara

yes take LIE to exit 73 and continue on that going east..
You should be passing Tanger outlet on your RIGHT...
Just keep going and going and going..
It is still kinda far..ESPECIALLY once it goes to a single lane..
You will hit a traffic circle...just keep going east meaning you go half way around the circle and keep going straight on 25 east

Re: Are there any wineries that are close to each other??
Off of Elijah Lane (which is off Sound) check out Shinn Estate Vineyard!!!
I just interviewd them yesterday for a magazine...but don't tell them that! I'd be embarrassed!!! They gave me a nice bottle and I really liked the wine. I'm transcribing the interview now.....

i'll show you the article when i'm done...the editor ended up wanting me to do this interview instead of some of the ideas I sent him because Shinn now has a winery with state of the art equipment, a B&B slated to open summer 07, and some other exciting ventures. it went well...they gave me a whole tasting afterward, gave me a bottle, and let me walk some of the vineyard. i ate merlot off the vine!

shinn's will be small, but they will host wine camp weekends. david page, barbara shinn's husband, is a chef and will cook at wine camp and then you will work at their vineyard and on the final day attempt to make a drinkable blend of wine. i asked them how much...they told me "it's priceless!" they don't know yet.
sorry...i'm hijacking!
