Thinking positive thoughts!

Are there IVF classes?

I'm currently waiting to find out if my second IUI was a success, but I'm already thinking ahead.

I will probably do two more IUIs if this one isn't successful, but after that I'm not sure if I'll move on to IVF or throw in the towel.

I'd like to start learning as much about the IVF process and the meds as possible now, so I can make a timely decision. I'm just not sure if it's something I'm willing to put my body (and my mind!) through.

Does anyone know of any classes or seminars where I can get up to speed?

Re: Are there IVF classes?

I'm not sure of any seminars or classes but I learned a lot from here! Especially reading someone's IVF Journal. I did a lot of research on my own online also before I even knew IVF was definitely going to be my next option. Good luck!! Hopefully you won't need to go that route

My RE had an IVF class you were required to take before starting the process.

Re: Are there IVF classes?

I dont know of any classes, but Long Island IVF has a section called Patient Portal that has a consent form with a ton of info plus a bunch of videos by their doctors that I found helpful.
I did 5 IUIs and just finished my first IVF cycle (I go for a pregnancy test tomorrow).
Like you, I did not know if I was up for the task of IVF- I was terrified of it. The nurses at my doctors office were great and walked me thru it every step of the way. What I envisioned in my mind was so much worse that what it ended up to be. I had no side effects from any of the injections and I was on pretty high doses. I thought having to give myself a shot would be hard, but it was so easy. I envisioned giant needles when in actuality I dont even think they were a half inch. It hurt less than having blood drawn.
Taking the time to inform yourself is great- it really helped me. I felt prepared in terms of what to expect which helped me to be more calm in the process.

Same with my RE.

What are you finding yourself wanting to know? I'm wondering if some of your questions might be answered here. You may also want to consider seeing a therapist who specializes in infertility.

To the OP, I'd also recommend not jumping ahead. You're only on your 2nd IUI. I'm not sure your diagnosis, but you've really only had 1 BFN so far. And I don't know if you've done medicated IUIs. There are still a lot of things you may want to consider before the jump to IVF...which is a big jump.

My RE required you to attend their IVF seminar where they explained everything from beginning to end and then allowed for questions. They also wanted you and the person who might help you to go to an injections class specifically to learn about how to do the different medications properly.
