you have to go to a regualr OBGYN first, if you are high risk they will send you to see a Maternal-fetal medicine Dr, also called a perinatologist.
Specialzed Dr's dont deliver babies, they justtreat you in addtion to your regualr OB for any high risk issues and turn you back over to your OB when its time to deliver. You usually see them once a month like your OB.
They also only take refferals, meaning you Dr has to send you to one.

While this applies to some perinatologists/maternal fetal doctors - there are many maternl fetal medicine dr's who also deliver babies so they serve as your regular OB.
My OB/GYN specializes in and is board certified in High risk and he delivers. I think you are in some ways better to try to find one doctor who does both rather than trying to coordinate care with two doctors if you can.
