Are u suppose to use a cool mist humidifier when your baby is sick?
I have been using a warm vaporizer, should I get a cool one?

Yes, because the warm mist increases the temperature in the room, which is not a good thing.

yep cool
Personally i find a warm one to make me more stuffy. Cool soothes my sinus and helps keep my throat moist.
*shrug*
Always used cool with AJ from birth. Now i use it on me too ! haha

I never felt like the cool ones worked and asked my ped. about it. She said warm usually works better but the AMA advises parents to use cool ones because of the risk of burns with the warm ones.
I use mine every night and it has solved the problem of my dry winter skin!!

i thought you were supposed to use warm if they are congested?
mine can do either-- i usually keep it on cool, but switch it depending on how she is feeling.

We always use the cool mist one, and even use it on most nights now because we have hot air heat and it gets soo dry.

Re: Are u suppose to use a cool mist humidifier when your baby is sick?
Yes, cool mist because there is burn risk with the warm ones, if they tip it over with hot water inside. I'd rather use the warm one for DS since his room is cold, but I'm more concerned about forgetting to empty it one day.
We use it almost every night since DS has a perpetual runny nose in the winter, and I really think it has helped. No more runny nose lately.

We only have the cool mist. I believe it was my ped. who told us not to use the warm mist, as bacteria breeds from the warmth.
