Are you buying formula ahead of time
Now that I know I am bottlefeeding, I was wondering if I should start stocking up on baby formula before arrives.
But how do i know which one? I know the pediatrician will start baby on certain formula right? Should I find out with them before or do I just wait.?
I am afraid then I won't have it when we bring her home.
As you can tell....I'm panicking!!!

Re: Are you buying formula ahead of time
you should wait. I delivered at Good Sam, they use Similac Advance so they gave us some to take home, then Dh went out to buy. You dont want to buy ahead b/c you dont know what your little DC will like. Some newborns need a more gentle formula than what the hospitals use so you should wait to see if your DC takes to the one used in the hosp.

You should wait. We had a ton of Similac Advance and then DS had to start using Gentlease, so that all got given away.
The hospital will givve you plenty to get started with.
I would, however, register at all of the formula websites (Similac, Enfamil and Nestle for Good Start) and then you can trade the checks or use them

I met with my ped. who said to wait and go with whatever the hospital uses, so you know your LO won't have an allergic reaction at home. Apparently my hospital trades between Similac and Enfamil.

Re: Are you buying formula ahead of time
I would definitely wait. Take all of the little ones that the hospital gives you and hopefully that formula will work!

Re: Are you buying formula ahead of time
You should definitly wait, because you don't want to buy too much of one formula and then have the ped switch the baby to another. Sometimes it takes a few different formulas to find one thats right.
