Are you doing cord blood banking? Public or Private?
DH doesn't want to do cord blood banking. I asked if it was because of the cost and he said absolutely not. After doing some research, he thinks it is marketing genius but slim to none actual medical benefits. I kept pushing for it and then DH started getting annoyed at me. Apparently all his physician colleagues all didn't do cord blood banking either.

Yes, we are doing private and paying. We looked into the company that my Dr gave us all the pamphlets too and after careful consideration we decided to. As my Dr said it's an insurance policy. We pay ins on everything from home, fire, car, etc... why not our child be covered. Hopefully we'll never have to use it.

That is the very strange thing - my husband is an insurance junkie. He even has his hands insured. I really don't understand why he is so vehemently against cord blood banking.
I was pushing pretty hard last night and he had a very short fuse regarding this topic, which is very unlike him.

Not doing it...after a lot of research we decided that our baby will be receiving all of her cord blood, as it accounts for 20% of their blood supply and contains many properties to help establish a healthy immune system, therefore teh umbilical cord will not be cut until it stops pulsing.

I was 100% doing it until I asked the OB about it - he said he thinks it's a total waste of money and we'd be better off putting it toward his college education . - There are so many public banks to donate to, that there really is no reason to pay a small fortune for it - in HIS opinion, it's a waste.
ETA - We'll probably 'donate' it to a public bank -

Everyone is different. DH is more about it than me and it doesn't mean we'll ever use. There are so many tests going on right now on stem cell so we're also hoping that w/ Barach they'll be allowed to do more that'll be helpful. As you can see other girls aren't and even the OB didn't recommend it. Ours didn't tell us either way, but just made some good points. We have some stock money in an ING so we're using that to pay for it. I think it's a sensitive topic and everyone has their own opinion... doesn't mean anyone is wrong.
