Are you getting a bottle warmer? Can we just throw the bottle into the microwave?

I didn't register for a bottle warmer. Now I'm considering adding one.

Can we just throw the bottle into the microwave for a few seconds?

I didn't get one and just intend on running it under the warm/hot water in a mug or something.

You aren't suppose to heat up breastmilk or formula in the microwave because it breaks down the proteins in the milk and it also create "heat pockets" that can burn baby when drinking....

according to my mom friends, the bottle warmer is a waste. Just run it under warm water.

i give DS room temperature formula. i never warm it.

if i premake a bottle and want to take the chill off of it, i throw it in the microwave uncovered for 10-15 seconds and mix it really well. it's just enough to get the "cold" out.

i personally would have no use for a bottle warmer, but to each her own.

I received one at my shower, but end up returning it. I plan to just run the bottle under hot water, or give it to DD room temperature.

bottle warmer is a waste of money but you are NOT supossed to warm bottles in the micraowave either due to hot spots

just take a mug, fill it with hot water and put the bottle into that

Honestly though, I never even warmed her bottles, I just used room temp filtered water

you shouldn't put a bottle directly into the microwave because the milk won't heat evenly and you can get hot pockets that will burn the baby's mouth.

best way to warm bottles that i have found is to microwave a mug that is half full of water for a minute and a half. then you drop the bottle in there for a couple minutes, and voila! perfectly warm milk.

I used a chinese soup container that I just kept in the sink and filled it with hot water when I needed to warm a bottle. I would sit the bottle in there for 3-5 minutes. Microwave does not heat evenly.

We had a bottle warmer that we kept in our room. It had a bottle cooler attached. We used it so we didn't have to go down stairs to warm up bottles for her feedings every 3 hours. We only used it for 3 months.

We then switched to powered formula and used warm tap water.

Cooler in the room Bottle warmer was a waste.

With both boys I did room temperature and after about a month I served from the fridge. I found that if we were out or travelling I couldn't always heat the bottle so it worked out better that they would drink it cold.

my sister never heated the bottles for both babies... when the bassinet was next to her crib she'd set a bottle up inside a bucket of ice

Bottle warmer is a waste - but like others said you can't warm it in the microwave.

I had this teeny pot that I ran hot water in - and placed the bottle in for about 30 seconds to take the chill out!

They recommend that you never put a bottle in the microwave b.c they can heat unevenly and badly burn the baby.

If you want to warm a bottle you can get a warmer, or heat water and put the bottle into the heated water.

We use put our formula in the fridge (use the liquidvbottle) and need the warmer to take the chill out of the milk. We love it. If you're going to use powder than you won't need it. On occasion we've tried to warm the bottles with running water but it takes longer.

Just lurking - I am not preggo. I Have 2 kiddies already. Anyway, you really dont need a bottle warmer. I just let the bottle sit in warm water in a mug. I also boiled water and then filled bottles. I used room temp water.

This is actually the warmer I was considering adding to our registry. We're already registered for the Avent bottle set, which includes the sterilizer.

see - what i like about this is it also warms the baby food....does that make it a better purchase???

everyone keeps mentioning the bottle warmer part - but it heats the baby food too.... I don't know if that's something that has to be done or not though....

Jess - you don't need to heat the baby food at all!

Room temp drinker here.

I used to warm it up then one night just stopped I cant even remember why.

If I had to chill her milk - like she falls alseep before I get to her, then I use a mug with hot water to warm it.
