Are you in your forever home?
Or are you in a starter home with the hopes of moving to a bigger place one day?
Or did you buy a starter home that's going to turn into your forever home?

forever home
buying a home was kind of something I only wanted to do once. We shall see what happens!
eta: with the way the market is and has been, I really didn't want to risk starting small and then be stuck due to the market.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
I pray it is just our starter....DH promised it would be. If not, than we will be putting a TON of $$$$$$$$$$ into it in a few years.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
Starter home. We bought a 2 bedroom co-op in a location we love but plan to buy a house a few years down the road.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
we are now in our "forever" home
I moved into DH's home when we got engaged on LI. We always knew we'd end up in NJ. Loved the LI home, but it wasn't big enough to grow into. It's a cape and DH did a lot of work (he's a contractor), but we had dreams of a bigger home, a pool, etc.
We saved up and pretty much paid off the house on LI b4 we sold ours, which helped. That money was the down payment on our home in NJ now. We got it at a great time for mortgage rates too. All in all... the home was a tad bigger than we thought and pricier, but we fell in love and worked it out.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
Most likely our "forever" home. We have a two-family with my mom. Eventually (like in about 10 years or so), my mom plans to move out and possibly go back to Indiana (where she grew up) or maybe into a retirement community. At that point, DH and I have two options. We can rent out half the house and have another monthly income, or we can blow it out and make a huge one-family. We'll decide when that time comes.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
We are now in our forever home.
Our first home had the potential to be our forever home, but we decided we wanted something much bigger and a lot more property. We lived the for 6 years, and sold it the first weekend on the market.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
I am not sure.
We bought a starter home in 2004 and moved in 2006. The home we are in now could go either way. Should we stay we will be putting an extension (family room) but we love the house, great SD, neighborhood, etc. So we will see what the future brings.
At this point our plan is to move in a few years but who knows...I would be happy in this house forever as well!

Re: Are you in your forever home?
Our forever home (unless we win the lottery-then that is up for discussion). I like that both of our parents lived in one house, never moved. We want the same. We will make this house into what we want it to be.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
It's not a starter and not a forever.
It's the house we'll live in for as long as we live in this state. But we move to a different state about every 5 years, so all our homes have an expiration date.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
Forever home. It tooks us a long time to find, but we didn't want to go through that process twice. It was too stressful, and I hate moving. We love our home!

Re: Are you in your forever home?
our home is large & comfortable enough to be our forever & we love our community & our neighbors however DH really wants to move further east to be closer to his business.
the goal will be to rent our current house out and buy in the Hamptons at some point.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
Its not our starter home ( we already sold that) but its not our forever home.
We bought this home with the thought that it COULD be our forever home, totally has that potential for sure, but we are probably going to be moving further east to our forever home.
But if it wound up being our forever home, it would be ok with it.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
not by a long shot.
We planned on staying about 10 years. We are in it now 8 and are fixing some things. We would like to move out of state soon.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
I think so. We have an a half-dormered unfinished attic upstairs so we just need to do a little work up there then it'll be roomy enough to be a forever home. But who knows? I just hated the house hunting process and can't imagine having to pack/unpack again. We have so much stuff now!

Re: Are you in your forever home?
It is my forever home now. I bought the house before I married so it's all mine, then during my divorce I actually put it on the market (after putting in a new kitchen and renovated some other rooms) but realized how much I love the house. It is in a great area, on a canal with a huge backyard with so much potential. So my son and I are staying put.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
No, we always said this is our starter home. I feel like we outgrew it already. We would love to move in a few years into our forever home in a completely different neighborhood.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
Forever home. We are going to eventually dormer the attic area (its a split) to make a master suite and then we are good.
Unless of course we hit the lotto

Re: Are you in your forever home?
I thought it was our starter home -- now it looks like it'll be our forever home once we finish some renovations.
We've found a lot of bigger houses on larger properties, but our taxes are too low to leave here.

Re: Are you in your forever home?
We are most likely in our starter home. It's not big enough for more than two children, and we are probably going to have four. We could blow the house out, but I think we will want a location change within the next 5-6 years.
