Are you supposed to tip...

carolers? We had kids come by caroling the other night. That night we were eating dinner so DH politely said it wasn't a good time. But then I started thinking...what if they come back? They were only kids, but the kids on our block tend to be very job-oriented. Haha. They're always coming by asking to do yard work, etc. for money. Do I tip them?

My cousins and I used to go caroling when we were younger and most folks tipped us a few bucks, some even gave $20s which is a lot of money nowadays, let alone the 80s. Band Aid was the big thing back then so we donated all our "tips" to them.

If we had carolers come to the door, I'd definitely tip, especially if they were kids!!! (Regardless of where the money was going.)

I went caroling once (back in the 80's), nobody gave us money, but there were people that came out and gave us cookies, candy, etc.

I would offer them hot cocoa or a candy cane or cookies or something. Not $- that's not what caroling's about- it's about spreading cheer and getting people in the spirit of Christmas.
