Are you surprised that so many adults..
act so immature? It seems like high school lingers on into adulthood. I expected more out of adulthood. At work everyone is so petty, friends talk about each other and get bothered over silly things, I thought this would end one day, I guess it;s a girl thing.

It does not surprises me at all. It is very irritating when adults cannot behave like adults but instead like a bunch of kids.

I totally agree, i have a few doctors that i work with that are very well educated, 1 of them is world renown and she gets herself all worke up over highschool stuff (this one didn't invite her to the wedding, that nurse is a s*lut, etc etc) Unreal!!! Online, even worse, IMMATURUTY is at times an understatement.

I think I'm more surprised by adults' inability to see their own immaturity.

well, IMO, real life scenarios versus online life are two totally different things. i honestly don't think you can compare the two.

well, I personally think it is sad if you are a differnt person in real l life than you are online. Maybe it;s more security if you have a computer between you and the outside world, you can speak your mind and kind of hide, in the real world there are repercutions to face because you have to own it.

well, based on the example you gave, i would love to see how that world renown dr. would act online!!
as for me, anyone who knows ME personally, knows that i don't hide behind any computer - i speak my mind just fine in RL as well - and own up to any repercutions that follow. it's called having a spine, and a strong personality. maybe it's part of my upbringing, but i refuse to take **** from anyone. and i don't change the core of who i am for anyone either. (thx Jax )

I also think that typed words can come across very differently than spoken words. When words are spoken, you can hear the person's inflection and see their body language. When they're typed, they lose that. Also, someone could be very playful and make lots of jokes "in real life" and when they attempt to do this online, it may be miscontrued and taken wrong.

You're right, I could not imagine, she goes from a Tumor Board meeting talking about procedures and treatments to making fun of someone's outfit

Re: Are you surprised that so many adults..
theres so many different levels of immaturity though. The doctor you're describing sounds more like she has a superiority complex than she is "immature".
then theres the immaturity level of someone who laughs when someone else farts or says dirty words- Maybe thats immature, but *I* still think its funny, and if you can't laugh at life- then What's the point??
and then theres bickering immaturity. People bicker- its a normal process in life, some do it in a more immature manner then others, but its all the same in the end. The thing about this kind of immaturity is this: people from the outside- who have no idea of the full story at all- decide that the people involved are immature. They assess the situation without knowing even half of the story, and form an opinion based on that. IMO, thats one of the worst forms of immaturity because they make ignorant/uninformed judgements of the situation based on that- and then hold onto them tightly as a real TRUTH- when really, it is not.

I agree. perfect example was my co-worker from yesterday who turned around and told me to "shut up" and was very rude to me during the day.
I am disgusted at times of how immature someone can be

Sadly enough....no it does not end....and yes I also think this is a girl thing I am going thru something similar now with a group of friends..... people who I thought were true friends have turned out to stab others in the back. I am very sad about it....

it amazes me how people LOOOOOOOOOVE to take that holier than thou (some may even call it a motherly stance) ... ya know those people who actually LOVE to point out everyone elses IMMATURITY, INSENSITIVITY, INSECURITIES.........
Yet they rarely look at themselve to see their own HYPOCRASY....
How they themselves HATE to be criticized....even can't deal with it when they are called out on their own issues
Maybe people should be less concerned with other peoples behavior and focus on their own..
i dunno..
just a thought
