Area rugs in dining room
How big are area rugs in a dining room suppossed to be? So that when the cairs are pulled out all the way they are still on the rug?

I think 9x12 would be the right size.

Re: Area rugs in dining room
My table is pretty long. And with the chairs pulled out it is 10 feet long. So I guess 9 x 12 would be it... I don't think I am going to get one

Re: Area rugs in dining room
i think i read once on the pottery barn website that the rug should be big enough to cover the area with the chairs pulled out. my area rug just fits when the chairs are pushed in though and i think it looks fine. also the rug is fairly thin so it's not like the chair is wobbly with 2 legs on and 2 legs off, kwim? but if you had a thicker rug it might make a difference.

my area rug doesn't extend to fit under my chairs when they are pulled out
