Arms and hands keep falling asleep

My hands have been getitng pins and needles for the last month or so while I am sleeping. Usually it happens to my left hand when I sleep on my left side. But last night was like torture! I would lay on my right side for 5 minutes and my whole arm would go numb. Then I would flip (which is not an easy task in itself) and then my left hand would fall asleep. I woke up with stiff shoulders and swollen/sore hands. My hands are even going numb when I'm driving my car. I have to constantly move my hands around so they don't get pins and needles. I'm gonna tell the dr. today, but I am sure it's fairly normal...just really annoying.

Re: Arms and hands keep falling asleep

I'm getting this too, and I am only 19 weeks. Same exact situations - when I sleep and then on the drive into work usually, they are still recoverng. I read that pregnancy can cause carpel tunnel in both hands, so if you're wrists are not straight when you're sleeping, this could be what it is.

I tend to put my hand under my pillow, so I feel like all the weight on them is causing the numbness. Will bring this up to Dr this week when I go though.

I have this too.

Pins and needles in my fingers and sometimes even my elbows. I have it as I type right now.

My doctor said, it's pregnancy carpel tunnel. It's so annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just hoping that it goes away after giving birth. I would hate to be like this forever.Chat Icon
