Article- Why pregnant women stand...
On buses and subways:
http://jezebel.com/5558217/pregnant-women-cant-get-seats-on-public-transportation
This makes me so mad! I am not visibly pregnant enough yet for anypne to offer a seat, but when I am...this is going to really p*ss me off.

Re: Article- Why pregnant women stand...
can i tell you, when i worked in the city, if i saw someone pregnant, i always got up on the train or subway. i'm sure i made some men feel guilty, but hey. as someone whose sister is disabled, i'm just more sensitive to actually getting up when i see someone who needs a seat.

I take the subway EVERYDAY and people will STARE at my belly and not get off their a$$es. I'm only 15w and not 30w, but I am visibly pregnant and I find it extremely rude!! Before I was pregnant, I would always get up for the elderly or a pregnant woman!

Re: Article- Why pregnant women stand...
I used to stand up on the bus whenever anyone got on who looked like they might need a seat more than me -- parents with young children, people with many bags, etc. Most of the time it seemed like people appreciated that.
The only time I ever got a real yelling was one time on the subway when I stood up to give someone obviously pregnant a seat and she lashed out at me, saying she wasn't a cripple just because she was having a baby -- it was a little insane, but I just chalked it up to the hormones and walked away.
People definitely have different reasons for not giving up their seats sometimes (as they say, not all disabilities are visible) but I would hope that anyone who wants a seat would speak up.

Re: Article- Why pregnant women stand...
I know what you mean. I take it both the subway and bus everyday and I have seen this countless times. I ALWAYS get up for a pregnant woman, even now that Im pregnant (if she is bigger than me).
I will never understand why men wont get up. It's disgusting.
Yesterday, I was rushing to make my train and a million people were blocking the turnstyles as they were exiting.
I sat there patiently and then tried to cut in and swipe my card when some big fat old man goes:
" WAIT FOR THE NEXT TRAIN"
I wanted to throw something at him. Instead, I just yelled "A$$hole".

Sorry I think people nowadays dont care about anyone but themselves- I was in freaking disneyworld and this woman was about 7 or 8 months pregnant- gigantically obviously pregnant and the only man that offered to get up was my 13 year old cousin
The woman I work with was telling me 20 years ago when she was pregnant she actually went and bought a portable seat that would fold up and thats how she got through her pregnancy- even then no one would get up

I think they're just rude! I see it every day on the subways. I was on the subway with a pregnant woman a few days ago and it was so obvious that she was pregnant--she was tiny all over and all belly. I was the only person (another preggo--though you can't tell I am yet) that offered her my seat!

Re: Article- Why pregnant women stand...
People in the city are SO rude, and I find that women are way worse than men.
I am 7 mos preggo, and HUGE and rarely get offered a seat, and if I do, it is by a man!
People suck!
