As my friend so eloquently put it - CAN you DOUBLE DIP
a Godparent??
I'm not against non-family Godparents per se, but I do much prefer a blood relative. We had DH's youngest sister and my only brother be Jake's GPs. So this time we were thinking of having DH's oldest sister and ... well, we are out of men. So it would be my brother again.
Has anyone re-used one or both GPs?

I don't have a second child yet but I would very much consider "re-using" my SIL as a godparent since my sister is 4 and there is no other blood relative.

My girlfriend is godmother to both her sister's kids.
There's no one more special or more deserving in her life, so why should she have chosen someone else kwim?

Yes you can.
We didn't because we had a lot of people to choose from.
I do remember crying because my older sister used to taunt me that my twin sister & I would have to live at our godparents' house if our parents died. Her godparents lived in Florida so she thought she'd be going there.

We are going it. We are having my BIL again for DD. I don't have any brothers, my SIL's husband is def not a choice and my BIL can't because that would just cause too many problems.

It is perfectly fine! I don't have a choice. I'm an only child and my cousins live in Texas and don't every come up to NY. Most of my closest friends are Jewish so they can't be a godparent which only leaves my BIL and SIL.

I don't see why not. If it is someone you love and trust, wht can't they be godparents X2?
