Aside from applying for a loan, is there anyway of getting your credit SCORE?
I have been trying to repair my credit for the past couple of years, and I want to see if I have helped it at all.. I got my free credit report from online, but it charges you to actually GET your credit score.
Any help would be great.. TIA

You can go to myfico.com. I think it's like $30 for your score. In order to just check your credit report you are entitled to 1 free report per year but it does not include your score.

Privacyguard.com offers 3 mos for free, but You do have to put in your CC number so if you forget to cancel they will charge you for the year. You can pull every day and see your scores

more then worrying about a "score" i would do research every entry on your report to make sure it's accurate. You credit score does mean somthing however, all banks are different in the way they use it. While one will decline you, another will take you with open arms. Of course, its different terms (somtimes) but you can still do what your trying to do, if you can afford it

Re: Aside from applying for a loan, is there anyway of getting your credit SCORE?
What I have read to maintain or build a better credit score is:
pay off all of your debts on time
if you have any cc with zero ballances keep them open so that lenders see that you have available credit with a good repayment history
never charge more than 25-50% of your available credit on one card (some say 25 others say 50%) but basically if you know you have one really expensive purchase to make on a credit card, call the cc co and tell them and then pay that large purchase off at the end of the month. for lots of purchases, use a few cards so that you have at least 50% left avaiable credit on each card.
If you are making a big purchase, like a car or home and are checking into financing, unless you are absolutely sure you are going with one lender, don't give your social security number becuase multiple credit checks within a short period of time can lower your credit score.
if you are thinking of making a big purchase like a home, hold off on purchasing other things or opening new credit cards until after you have closed on the home.
but basically, paying your lenders on time, over a longer period of time 1-2 years should raise your score.
Also, if there are errors on your 3 reports you must contact each reporting company to clear them and put a letter into your file.

When we went to a mortgage broker to inquire about mortgages- we didn't apply for anything and he ran our credit report with scores.

This is one of the most important things you can do along with paying your bills on time. It is called debt utilization and it has just as big of an impact on your score as your payment history. I used to do credit repair as a side busines but it is very labor intensive so I stopped. If you want to fix your own a GREAT resource is creditboards.com. Read the stickies first and maybe post a question or two.
