Asked a million times...SAVINGS BONDS
I just went to WAMU and Chase...and both gave me forms to fill out requiring the baby's name, address, ss#.
Is there anyway of me getting a Savings Bond w/out this information?????

You can put in your own ss# in lieu of the child's, but I don't know what you can do about the address unless you have it shipped to yourself and you personally deliver it to the child/parent.

I would say paying for something now, and the child getting double when it matures is a pretty good deal...no?

it is, but you never know what sort of emergencies may lie ahead, this way what you give is what you get kind of therory. I also don't like the idea of giving a bank all that kind of information, you know.

You can always cash a bond in for face value & the bank has your SS# anyway.

yes, your bank has your SS#, but who is to say who you are giving the gift to will have access to your SS# or what bank they will use.

Getting back to the question at hand...
If I go down to Chase and get a bond, I can definitely put it in her name/address, but w/my ss#?

Yes the only reason they ask for your ss# is so that if the bond gets lost it is a way to track it down.

I usually use the mom's or dad's SSN and information - but that may be hard to get also

I love them! That's how I paid for my closing costs! I had 47 of them starting from when I was born and it took me 2 hours at the bank to cash them, but totally worth it. So glad my parents never let me touch them. The teller was very impressed!
