asking again about mini ivf
Has anyone done it? How do you think my chances are with unexplained IF?
I am meeting with Dr. b on Friday and I'm pretty sure this is the route we are going.
I typically respond very well to low doses of meds, ex. I made 5 eggs with step up step down protocol of 75 and 150iu in just 6 days.

Re: asking again about mini ivf
i have not done it, but my dr and i discussed it as a possible next step for me. i did one fresh IVF cycle and my embryo quality wasn't great. i thought maybe with a lower stim, i would get less but better quality embryos. (i do not have PCOS but always stim really well even on small doses) the thing that made me nervous was that the fewer embryos you start with, there is a chance you could go through all of that and be left with none to transfer.
it's definitely a gamble. but all IVF is a gamble.
good luck!

Re: asking again about mini ivf
i dont know a huge amount about mini IVF but IMO if you are doing IVF just do it. if its basically the same protocol as a regular IVF just with lower meds and less eggs - i honestly dont see the point. like the PP said if you start with less eggs, it just increases the chances that you may have to repeat a fresh cycle. if you are a known good stimmer i say go for it with a regular cycle, get as many eggs as you can in a healthy way, and have a lot to work with. you never know what might be found at ER or with fert. there are a lot of factors that we do not know until the lab gets a chance to really look at the egg quantity, quality, fert, and embies we are producing. so if you are doing an IVF protocol anyway, IMO just do it and have as much to work with as possible. i did one fresh cycle (also a good stimmer but due to PCOS), ended up with 10 great quality embies. we put 2 back and im pregnant with one. we have 8 frosties. i that i wont ever have to do a fresh cycle again.
whatever you choose, good luck!!

Re: asking again about mini ivf
Thank you for the input. We can't afford to do a regular IVF cycle right now since we have no insurance coverage.
I have done a fresh IVF cycle before when going for #1 and I had many good follicles and a good fertilization rate. We also ended up with a lot of frozen embryos. We wouldn't want as many frozen ones this time since we are going for #2 and would like to have maybe 3 kids total. (We don't want to have extra embryos after our 3rd child if possible).
That is all secondary though. The main reason is that we cannot afford it.

Re: asking again about mini ivf
Thank you. My doctor also thought I might have better quality eggs with a lower stim (not that mine were surely bad quality during my first IVF cycle).

Re: asking again about mini ivf
What is the price difference, if you don't mind sharing? I'm doing another FET after my last one failed and am trying to plan ahead in case this doesn't work. I'm in the same exact position as you.
