At the 12 week "hump"

I am so happy to be leaving the 1st trimester!!!

I have an OB appt tomorrow -- question, do you think they'll do an ultrasound? Is it internal? I can't wait for the external ones!!! Tired of the dildos!!!!!!

you sound like me, I was soooooooo happy with my first external sono! I said the same thing to my husband.. no more dildo's!!!

I think it depends on your OB's office and your insurance. My OB does sono's once a week in their office, but my insurance doesn't cover it, so I have to go to an outside facitlity. So, no sono for me at my first appointment, but she did listen to the heartbeat with the doppler.

My first sono after leaving the RE at 8 weeks, was my 12 week ultrascreen and it was external!

Mine did NOT do a sono at 12 weeks. If they do, Im 99% sure its external.

I had both an internal & external because my little man wouldn't cooporate with the external only. I was being pronged from all angles

You might get an ultrasceen sono - which should be external. I know exactly what you mean - when I started getting external sonos I told DH how exciting it was not to have to take my pants off for a sonogram!
