At what age (approx.) do babies/tots know not to crawl off the bed/couch?
Sounds silly, but I was just wondering this today.

depends on the child. For my boys, sure they know, but WOO HOO ,what a thrill it is to JUMPPPPPPPPPPPP (well not off the bed, but the couch )
It really depends on how daring or cautious they are.

Noah learned to turn around and crawl off the couch probably at around 9 months. He is truly a genius!

Well, I don't think they have depth perception until well over a year. So that's why they do that.

Re: At what age (approx.) do babies/tots know not to crawl off the bed/couch?
8 months Your baby's vision — previously about 20/40 at best — is almost adult in its clarity and depth perception at this point. Though his attention is more focused on objects that are close by, his vision is strong enough to recognize people and objects across the room. His eyes are probably close to their final color, though you may see subtle changes later.
Honestly, I think that they really don't have the ability to understand that they will fall for quite some time.

Alyson will crawl over to the edge and with some firm commands will come back to Mama. I keep telling her not to crawl near the edge because she can fall and get hurt.
She also likes to stand holding the edge of the sleigh bed and I tell her to sit on her bottom.

Logan has been turning around and getting down off couches and down steps for about a month (he's just a year now). I never showed him...I think the babysitter did to get down her 2 steps into her den

How many times do kids do what they know they are not supposed to be doing...
My nephew Gianluca knows he's not supposed to throw things behind the TV but he does it anyway because he gets a thrill out of it. The more my brother yells at him for it the more he does it and he laughs too. He's 1 years old.
