At what age did you have to start timeouts on a regular basis
I have a feeling Jack's time for timeouts is here.
What age did you start them on a regular basis?

18 months but it took at least a month for her to get it. Sometimes all I have to say is Do you want a time out and she goes to her spot now.

about 2-3 months ago...so around 19-20 months. I thought he was way too youngbut my Ped and EI trainer told us its good practice to start now even if you get it wrong....

Re: At what age did you have to start timeouts on a regular basis
Cailen was a rascal At a young age. At 10 months we did a mini time out where we plunked him away from us and walked away from him. 13 months we started placing him At the wall. He got the concept right away so by 18 months we hardly had to do it. Now we maybe have to do it At most once a week. If he doesn't stay in his spot we put him in his high chair. Since he hates that, he now takes his time out quietly and compliantly. I have to say, for now time outs have been so effective that the one warning whips him into shape!

Re: At what age did you have to start timeouts on a regular basis
around 18 months we started doing time outs but i am not strict with it yet when DS does something wrong i will tell him whats he done, and that hes going into timeout and then I put him on the couch, most of the time he wont stay more then a couple seconds and will come over and hug/kiss me cause he knew he did wrong (atleast he associates the corner of the couch with timeout though). ETA: DS also doesnt get time out on a regular basis yet, he's pretty good about getting over things quickly

Re: At what age did you have to start timeouts on a regular basis
I think it really depends on the kid. DD doesn't really do anything that warrants time outs regularly - but she's also on the mellow side of toddler-hood. I can totally see other kids her same age needing them regularly. I know her time's coming, though.

We really got into the swing of it around 18 months. Now we don't seem to do them as often but from time to time he goes in.

Around 14 months, maybe earlier. But he had a real biting problem. We were desperate.

About 17 months, which was probably a bit too early but I'm glad I've done for a few months now b/c he now understands what it's all about at 22 months.
