At what age did your child sit up without support?
Hi ladies!
My will be 8 months old next week (7 months adjusted). At what age did your twins sit up without support? Is there a delay with multiples? They are big "tummy time" boys, always playing and rolling around on the floor. I'm just worried that they are behind schedule with sitting up on their own. They seem to be making all of their other milestones. Thanks! I posted this on the parenting board but didn't receive any responses!

Re: At what age did your child sit up without support?
My triplets will be 7months on February 2nd and 4 1/2 months adjusted. My 2 DS just began sitting without support this week when they have a toy in front of them to keep them busy. But they can not pull themselves up from a tummy position to a sitting position yet. Not sure when that occurs. They have been sitting with support for about 2 weeks now. My DD was a micro preemie at birth, only 1lb 14oz and she has always been behind the boys. She receives PT 2x a week due to her low birth weight and the PT is continuously working on sitting. She just learned this past week how to sit with support, and she was sitting independently for a few seconds during this morning session.

My DS (now 3.5) sat unassisted right before he hit 6 months.
My twins (girls) did it at 7 months. They probably were capable of doing it sooner but I never really pushed it.
My girls were not premature so I am not sure if that plays a role in your situation.

Re: At what age did your child sit up without support?
My twins are 9 months old. They can sit up unassisted very well now. My son started about a month and a half ago and my daughter 3 weeks ago. I used to put a pillow behind them in case they fell backward since they we wobbly in the beginning. Now they sit up strong and can keep themselves from falling over but that has been for the last couple of weeks only.
They were one month premature. They still cant get to sitting on their own yet, but it looks like they're close.

Re: At what age did your child sit up without support?
Hi! I'm an O.T. Unsupported sitting starts at around 6-7mos. but the kids are typically placed in sitting position. They transition to sitting on their own (from lying down or being on their tummy) at around 9 mos. Some kids, multiple or not, develop the skill early; some late. Try propping them with pillows on their sides and back initially, or sit behind them as they play with a toy, gradually decreasing support and letting them balance on their own.
