At what age do infants like cartoons?

My DS is 9 weeks and people are telling me to buy Baby Einstein DVDs. I know DS can now see the TV but I feel like he's too young to have an attention span. I put on the cartoon network sometimes and he doesn't seem any more interested in that than he does in regular channels. How old was your DC when they enjoyed kids TV?

I thought this too. But we bought her an Einstein dvd..appropriate for her age (the Beethoven one I think) and she LOVED it from the very beginning. She started watching it when she was about 11 weeks old and now shes 5 months and still loves it! I usually put it on for her while I cook or while I eat dinner. I too didnt think she would like it at all, but I was wrong.

My DD is 12 weeks - we started her on the Baby Einstein a few weeks ago (starting with the Language one). Now she loves TV. I would have never thought that it would be so early, but she will actually start crying if the TV is on and she can only see part of it.

Right now she loves Bob the Builder, Sesame and its a Big Big World. She will actually sit and "talk" to the TV!

Obviously, I am limiting how much she watches, especially now that she likes it so muchChat Icon

DD is 12 weeks and actually likes Elmo. Although she won't tolerate it for more than 15 minutes at a time. We tried Baby Einstein and she didnt like that but we're going to try again soon.

DD didn't start glancing and actually watching tv until she at least 7 months old.

I have those baby einstein videos, she has watched them all of 2 times.

This kid though does love Jeopardy and wheel of fortune. She will push you out of the way to pay attention.
This is recent though-dd is 8.5 months old and all the tv she watches.

Andrew didn't really like them or TV until about 7 months old.

He always hated Baby Einstein.

I have only put TV on twice for Joradana and she is 9 months. She gets fascinated by it- but I don't want her to get in the habit of watching TV so young.

The American Board of Pediatrics doesn't recommend TV use until a child is 2. I KNOW I won't make it that long, but since DH and I are such TV addicts, why start Jordana so young? She has her whole life to be addicted to TV like us Chat Icon

I actually think it can be very educational. I just don't plop him there for the day but I think it is a great learning tool.
