She is 6 weeks old now

I am not sure because I converted to be a Catholic when I was 25. DH was always a Catholic but he's kinda clueless to these things Chat Icon

Also, the godfather we're choosing we're close too, but the godmother (DH's sister) we're not THAT close to...is that ok? Otherwise we have no one else really for a godmother

You can have the baptism whenever you want. DD was baptized at 3 months.

Most churchs only really require 1 godparent to be Catholic. The other godparents technically gets listed as a Christian witness for the church records.
As far as not being close to the godmother, it is ok, but if you have somebody else you would rather pick that isn't Catholic, that is an option also.

Whenever you are ready - Sean was 3 months old. That seems to be the norm in my family -

It can range anywhere from a few weeks old to whenever. We baptized DD at 4 months old.

I agree, you can do it whenever you want.

We had DS baptized when he was 6 months.

That is a very personal decision. We baptized DS at 7 weeks old.

DS was 2 days shy of being 5 months and DD as 3 months old.

Out of the 2 I preferred DD's age because she slept a lot still so she didn't mind being in the stroller. DS on the other hand napped a total of 30 minutes that day and it was a longgg day (mass was at 10:30am and we left the restaurant and 6pm and the travel time between the 2 were only 10 minutes ). He couldn't fall asleep because of the noise and he wanted to see what was going on. This left me with a very cranky baby at the end of the night.

I agree with the other posters. It is a personal preference. Maya was 3 months, but was baptized in a Roman Catholic church with 5 other babies ranging in age from 6 weeks to almost a year and a half.

Re: At what age should I plan DD's baptism?

ds was 8 weeks old... but with baby #2 we are waiting until may so he/she will be 4 months....

as for godparents... well that is more a matter of who you want to spiritually guide your child... honestly we are having a tough time choosing for baby #2... the god father is so easy... as dh's brother is so involved with ds... more then anyone else... we wish and are hoping be becomes engaged to his gf prior to the baby being born because she is just as involved with ds and we know that they both are great... however we need toe assurance that she will be around longer then a few months... otherwise it will be my sister.. not the best choice.. but atleast there will always be my bil
