At what age should you start disciplining and how?
DS is almost 15.5 mos old and I'm wondering when I'm supposed to start with timeouts and/or what kind of "discipline" I can use now? I ask him to stop doing something and he looks straight at me and does it again. I usually say "that's not nice" or "please don't do that" and try distracting him with something else but now he is starting to throw tantrums/cry when I take him away from doing something that he shouldn't be doing. I'm not sure what to do.

Re: At what age should you start disciplining and how?
at a young age, saying no and being stern then redirecting from the situation is best. Timeouts arent really effective for kids under 3 because they really cant understand the concept of sitting out because they did something wrong. each kid is different, as DD got older i noticed for her, taking something away that she likes or putting her in her room away from us and toys for 2 minutes is effective however for people i know, those kids do not work for their kids so everyone is different. for now though, Since your DC is young, id stick to the redirecting and using words he understands. (some of this stuff i learned in my early childhood development class)
