At what age would you leave your child for a weekend?
Dh and I have a wedding to go in California. I'm pregnant now, but the baby will be 5 months when the wedding comes. My mom has offered to watch the baby. Is this too young? It woudl only be for the weekend- Saturday to Monday. We are debating whether to take the baby with us and get a bigger room- or have it be just us and get a smaller (and cheaper) room.

We are leaving Jack with my mother at 5 months but will only be 6 hours away driveable distance and all else fails Dh is a pilot so we could get back fast. Due to the distance of Ny-Calif is it possible to fly your mom out with you and bring the baby I know I couldn't be that far away.

I left Emma for the first time overnight at my moms, 10 minutes away, when she was 22 months. Jeremy is 7 months and yet to be away from me for more than 3 hours. Im SO overprotective its not funny

Are you planning to breastfeed? If so, it will be really hard for you to go away for that long.
Even if I was FF, I'd be too worried about the baby being upset the whole time. Unless your mom is spending a lot of time with you beforehand, she won't be able to soothe as well as you will.
That being said, I'm sure the baby would be fine. Its just a question of whether or not you'll be able to relax.

Re: At what age would you leave your child for a weekend?
We just left our little guy at 5.5 months and I BF. We toyed with taking him and my sister/husband to watch him while we were at the wedding, but in the end decided to leave him home instead. (thought the car ride would be too much, and he would be more comfy in his surroundings at home). obviously I had to pump, and have access to a freezer (we stayed at a B&B, cleared it with owners, and it wasnt a problem). We took a cooler with us, filled it with ice, adn transported everything home...

We've left Ava a few times - once when she was 2 months old for an overnight stay out east (it was an anniversary gift from my parents) and then at 3 months for a long weekend we went to Florida.
We missed her terribly but it was so nice to get away and SLEEP!!!!!!

When she was two months I left her for a few days with my mom
I had to let my mom take my daughter for 2 weeks while I recooperated from gall bladder surgery and she was 4 months old I had missed her so much.
