Re: at what point do they do u/s to estimate weight?
They never did one on me because there was no concern that I had a big baby. The u/s isn't that accurate anyway. I think if they feel you have an overly large baby they might do one otherwise you probably won't get one. The other reason would be is if they think the baby is breech.

Re: at what point do they do u/s to estimate weight?
They don't usually do a u/s to check weight unless there are any concerns, and even if you do get one, they're TOTALLY unreliable. 4 days before I gave birth they gave me a u/s because I thought I was leaking fluid - they wanted to checdk if there was sufficient fluid. The doctor told me my baby was "really big" probably over 8lbs. 4 days later Alex came out at a tiny 6lbs, 1 ounce!

Re: at what point do they do u/s to estimate weight?
My dr does one @ 39 weeks for "normal" pregnancies...I had mine on THurs and he measured 7.12 and when I delivered on Monday he was 8.12. My girlfriend had one 1 day before she delivered and he measured 9.4 and he was 9.12.

Re: at what point do they do u/s to estimate weight?
They estimated the weight at my 36 week sonogram.....but then they did it again when I was a week over due. The woman estimated Ava to be almost 8 lbs. When she was born a few days later she was 7lbs. 13oz.....pretty close. But I do hear that most of the time they are wrong!

Re: at what point do they do u/s to estimate weight?
I started getting them weekly at 34 weeks but this was only because I had GD and they needed to keep an eye on size.

Re: at what point do they do u/s to estimate weight?
I'm having a sonogram next week because I measured way ahead - I posted about the fundal height measurememt. I thought my 28 week sonogram would be the last.

Re: at what point do they do u/s to estimate weight?
I don't believe there are u/s to estimate weight. I think they estimate the weight based on the measurements they do at your dr. visits.
