My OB does them at the 1st visit which they have at 10-12wks for an initail blg...they feel you can catch it early and reduce the risk of a large baby. Then at 28wks you have another 1hr to see if you have maintained it. If either 1hr fails they send you to a 3hr regardles of which week you are at, but if GD is detected at 10-12wks they do not have you repeat the test at 28wks, instead continue the GD treatments

Hmmm...why is my OB doing it so early? I'm taking it this week - 24 wks! Is it bad to take that early?

I had mine at 24 weeks too. My dr said they usually do it between 24 and 28 weeks.
