at work and can't pump! oh no!

so I saw Shellyesq's earlier post about her breast pump breaking at work...

...subconsciously I must have done this on purpose......I forgot the suction cups for my breastpump and can't pump!

what will happen? is this really bad b/c my milk supply will get off track?

I know it sounds weird..I did that too..Can you hand express just to make you comfortable? I did this twice..I cried both times but I got alot of milk hand expressing.

I was so mad at myself!

First of all a Chat Icon to you for pumping at work as I am sure that is not easy! As a nursing mom myself, I do not think one day will throw your milk off track... On a rare occasion DD will sleep 4 - 6 hours straight and I always worried it would affect my supply and all turned out to be ok! Our bodies are amazing! If you can at least hand express to get some milk or at least relieve yourself.

I don't BF but I know that my nurse at my job actually has kits for that kind of thing. I heard some women talking about the other day. Can't hurt to ask.

If you miss a pump you will be fine! Don't worry about it. Just pump as soon as you can. Your boobs will get HUGE though, so expect funny looks on the train home

Huge and painful is what they will get indeed! Chat Icon

I agree with the poster who suggested hand expressing! After all, that's what our mothers and grandmothers did. No breastpumps back then!Chat Icon

I also did it a few times, it is not that bad, just uncomfortable!

I've had to handexpress when I missed a purmping session. I can't imagine missing a whole day. Makes sure you do it - even if you dump the milk. The last thing you want to be dealing with is a breast infection.
