ATT cellphone service... opinions/experiences?
DH wants to defect from Verizon... mainly becuase it's $ and he's really PO'ed that all of his cell phone internet features are blocked. no Java, can't download...
anyone have a phone with internet with AT&T? Do you have Java? How is phone reception (especially on the north shore / suffolk)
Verizon is $ and its phone internet service is awful (because they block everything and want you to pay extra for their traffic reports  )... but we've never had a reception problem in all of our years with them. And reception (especially in port jeff village) is critical since we don't have a landline at home...

Until DH got his iPhone, he had no complaints about service with AT&T (the iPhone has its own problems with dropped calls). Even sailing, he had great reception in LI sound and Great South Bay. He didn't have a phone for downloading anything, just wanted to let you know about service.

we've had ATT for like 5 or 6 years now.. from when it was ATT, then it went to cingular, then back to ATT. we've been happy with the service so far, hardly any dropped calls. ( We live in NJ though, so i'm not sure about service in NY)
DH just got an iphone about a month ago, so not a ton of experience with it yet, but so far i think hes been happy with it. it has so many great features. its nice to have the unlimited e-mail and internet. i know a lot of sites are making "iphone friendly" sites, that make them easier to look at on the iphone. (sorry- i know nothing about the tech side of that! LOL)
but i know that so far he hasn't had a problem with dropped calls or anything-- at least in NJ where we live.

we have ATT. I have a Blackberry and my DH has an Iphone. We are very happy with the service and my DH has never complained about dropped calls

We're the opposite: can't wait to drop AT&T and go to Verizon.
DH & I miss a lot of calls and text messages, and reception is awful.
But our cell phone needs are pretty basic, so I couldn't tell you about the other services you need.

I can't help you with how service is on LI since I live in NJ. But I've been an AT&T customer for over 10 years and have never had a problem with them.
Although I can say that my father lives in Pt. Jeff Village and I don't have any problems with my cell service when I'm visting.

My Dad has AT&T and it's horrible! His calls drop and no one can understand him half the time because it sounds so horrible.

DH is also always dropping calls with the Iphone. He also doesn't get service is a lot of places.

We dropped ATT and went to Verizon because of lack of coverage. DH is in sales and too many areas he couldn't find a signal.
