Attachment Parenting
Does anyone else do attachment parenting? I feel like I'm the only one here that isn't mainstream.

Re: Attachment Parenting
I would I say I semi do. I had an all natural birth with DD and plan that for future children as well. I planned to EBF DD but had major supply issues so that didn't work out but I did pump for 7 months. We coslept for 6 months with her in our room but she wasn't sleeping well and neither were we and she went into her crib with no issues. We really never did CIO She didn't like being worn but I did try slinging and using the bjorn. We plan to practice gentle discipline when the time for discipline arises.
I did belong to an AP group but the moms were far too granola for me and I felt rather out of place because although I believe in AP I am mainstream in how I live. I use disposable diapers, vaccinate (although delayed), I drive and SUV, etc. We do try to eat organic but that's about as crunchy as we get.
I think it's a beautiful way to parent and I hope to follow the principles as DD gets older, especially in the area of discipline and respecting her as her own person.

Re: Attachment Parenting
I did somewhat. I breastfed exclusively for many months until I couldnt take the diet anymore and Ds was diagnosed with ftt for milk protein issues. We co slept until he was a year old, until it was impossible to sleep with him. He made his own schedule until 1 year also. I agree with this type of parenting alot. However, for us everything changed at one year. He wasnt bfing anymore, he wasnt getting a good nights sleep in our bed anymore so naturally he just became more independent. He didnt really cry much when we put him in his crib, he seemed to enjoy the extra room. I fully beleive that this has attributed to his easy going attitude. Im glad I went this route for the first year.

To me attachment parenting is: Breastfeeding Co-sleeping Gentle Discipline Anti-circumcision Babywearing
Just natural family living basically

Re: Attachment Parenting
I would say I am about 75% there.
I tried for a natural unmed. birth but couldnt. I EBF Emma for 2 1/2 yrs and Jeremy until my milk dried up due to pregnancy Emma was in our bed for 14 months and Jeremy is just starting to go into his own bed at 21 months. I also never let either of them CIO The first time I was away from Emma when she was little was when she was 9 months old. I am a faithful sling wearer. I try to empathize with Emma and see her POV but lately, the more pregnant I become, the harder it is but I try. But I will never resort to physical disipline. My son is circumsized

Re: Attachment Parenting
We also have never left DD. We really try to limit our time away from her. DH does work FT and I work PT but my mom is her care provider and it's in our home. I would like to take a small vacation without her but I'm not ready and I feel like she wouldn't understand us being gone yet so for us it's just not time.
I agree with Antoinette. Alot changed for us at a year as well but we still really try. I remember someone said once that AP doesn't mean "always perfect" It's a way of parenting we can strive for but no parent is perfect and will do it right all the time.

How do you discipline your DD? We try timeouts but it seems she doesn't care. It feels like we're walking a fine line between gentle discipline and no discipline sometimes.
