I was going to say many of my friends who graduated from law school last year were being offered jobs in the 35K-45k range - with no benefits (or next to no benefits) They would be if they saw this
Even for 1st year associates in Long Island or Westchester, I cannot imagine they would be offered a salary THIS low. That is, unless you are talking about working for the city (i.e., the NY Law Department, in one of the DA's offices, etc .. but the amazing experience you gain in those departemtns is almost worth the low salary, IMO)
I was very surprised at this as well when I was hearing the firms and what they were paying - some of them are well respected firms (defense firms - but then again the money is often low in defense.) I would say on LI 45-55K is competative. Then again thinking to when my father started at Sherman and Sterling back in the 70's they started their 1st year associates at 15K. Big difference from the 125-150K they start at now...LOL
