Attitudes at work
I just wrote another thread in NFR and it made me think about this topic in general.
If someone gives you a major attitude at work because of their own stuff, do you find it puts a damper on your whole day?
Also have you ever called them out on it?
I had another social worker from a different agency get nasty with me today because I called her supervisor because she hadn't returned any of my calls. Then her supervisor got nasty with me in taking her staff's side.
I hate when people are like this...........especially when we are SUPPOSED to be on the SAME side.
I actually said to them both "Why are you attacking me? I am just trying to get information to help the client". Needless to say, I don't think that went over too well. I don't think some people like to be confronted. I think some people are just miserable people and take it out on everyone else. Just because you are busy doesn't give you a free pass to be nasty to those around you.
Some days I find it really gets to me though.

Re: Attitudes at work
You are putting too many of your emotions in it. Ive also had to go to supervisors bc someone didnt return my calls. Lifes a b!tch they need to be responsible for their job. When they arent you be responsible for your job and get it done. Even if that involves getting management involved. Never have I felt bad about doing this.

Re: Attitudes at work
Trust me, I don't feel bad. I am just venting I guess. There is no need for people to be nasty. Especially when you do what I do. Don't take your **** out on me. That is all. I have a meeting with them this morning. Should be interesting!!!!

Re: Attitudes at work
Yup as the low person on the totem poll people take things out on me alll the time. I end up doing a lot of things that aren't my job too, esp. things that I need to do my job. One person NEVER does his part (I need some reports that can only be printed from his computer) and Fri yet AGAIN they weren't done,so when I asked him to do them, he gave me attitude about how he had all this work he had to do. So I gave him attitude back ,because I had a lot of my on work to do! Of course I did them myself, as always. Funny how the person who had the job before him always had them done with no issue.
But what can I do? nothing except sit there and take it and try not to cry and try not to take things personally. It just sucks because it;s not my fault that people have issues and problems - it's my job to tell others about them, but there's no reason they should get mad at me about it!

Re: Attitudes at work
Yes, I work with people with major attitudes...coworkers AND clients.
It usually doesn't affect me for more than a couple minutes then I'm over it. I have called people out for it, but that tends to add fuel to the fire and is never productive.
I find myself clenching my jaw and breathing deep to calm down
