Attn: Beth re: Butterflies
I find it absolutely amazing that you posted this.
My friend who was killed in a motorcycle in 2000, comes to me all the time in the form of a butterfly.
The day he was in the accident, and we being put into the ambulance, he was already gone. I was there. A butterfly flew into the ambulance.
The day of his burial, a butterfly landed on his casket while we were standing around it.
When they brought the casket into the mausoleum, a butterfly flew into the mausoleum.

Re: Attn: Beth re: Butterflies
My mom swears my Uncle visits her in the form of a butterfly and the weirdest times they appear.
One literally landed on her shoulder the other day for minutes.
I have never seen that before in my life.
I too believe it.

Re: Attn: Beth re: Butterflies
when my grandmother passed away 5 yrs ago a HUGE black butterfly would not leave our backyard. the ironic thing is that i am soooo afraid of butterflies!!! but i truly believe that it was her. 3 yrs ago my next door neighbors father passed and a reddish brown butterfly kept flying next to his car at his house after the funeral. he had reddish brown hair!

Re: Attn: Beth re: Butterflies
TOTALLY agree with you on this. My Mom is a LadyBug. When she was in the hospital, dying, there were a large amt of ladybugs crawling on her window. It was surreal. The day she passed I sat there in the room with her and looked over toward the window and all ladybugs were not gone, but dead all along the window sill. Since then anytime I see a ladybug I smile and say "hi Mommy".
Actually...just last week DH calls me at work and leaves a message on my voicemail...He's telling me how he's emptying the dishwasher and looked out the window and sees this black & red butterfly. The butterfly flies over to "our pretty pink flowers" and stays there for a while...he said that's my Mom visiting.
It was so cute that he left that message - totally melted my heart.

Re: Attn: Beth re: Butterflies
My MIL used the butterfly as her inspiration. When she was dying of cancer, she believed that when faced with death, the butterflies would carry her to heaven. All throughout her 3 years battling cancer, EVERYONE who knew her bought her buterfly trinkets. You name it....pins, ornaments, shirts, chatchkas....everything butterfly.
When she died, I made 10 butterflies out of foam board and placed them around the funeral parlor. Everyone knew their symbolism. It was beautiful.
Last year on the 1st anniversary of her passing, we released butterflies at the beach. It was very moving.
We see butterflies all the time. They always land on my sons. We know it is my MIL visiting.

It's so ironic that you posted this!
FH's grandmother passed away two weeks ago and she LOVED butterflies. At the burial, there were NO butterflies in sight, except right over her casket! We were all so moved and KNEW that she was with us. When we went back to her house, there was another butterfly in front of her house. I totally believe it!!

Re: Attn: Beth re: Butterflies
This is really amazing, I recently replied to a post in the Motherless Support Group about my experience with butterflies in reply to the post "Do you believe in Signs" ... I dont know how to copy the link here so I will just cut&paste my reply.....
"I just wanted to share with you why I DO believe in signs....
i lost my mom 4 years ago after years of battling cancer... i have received so many signs from her,and always when i was really missing&needing her most.
I was always so sceptical of the idea of the "afterlife" but the signs she has given me to let me know shes still here were undeniable. One major sign that comes to mind first are all the butterflies that started appearing-everywhere.
Outside the hospital just when i first got the news of my mom passing, the first of many beautiful butterflies suddenly appeared. This was outside a hospital in the middle of NYC mind you, so it was very out of place to have a huge yellow butterfly appear from nowhere, and it would just fly all around me- and in the months ahead i NEVER saw SO many butterflies! Even when I was cleaning out her room a monarch butterfly must have came in thru the window and just sort of nonchalanty flew all around me. I am NOT making this up as crazy as it sounds. After a while i started doing research on the afterlife....because all these butterfly appearances were way to weird and i felt like it definately had to do with my mom. Sure enough i found out that butterflies are one of the #1 way that the afterlife tries to communicate with you,if you believe it!
They symbolize "metamorphasis" transforming from one body to another,a change in physical form.
Sorry this is so long, but i just wanted to share my experience with all of you, Your loved ones are very much still around you, and if you are open to it, you will def get a sign to know that they are still around you!

Re: Attn: Beth re: Butterflies
I do believe in signs....We had a death in our family last week and in between the day wake and night wake, as I was pulling back in my driveway, a butterfly was hovering around my car the whole time...I didn't think anything of it until my Mom called me a few days later to tell me that the floral arrangement from all of us had a butterfly sitting on it in the cemetary...Then yesterday, on my way home from work, 2 butterflys flew past my windshield on Montauk Hwy....I think it is a sign.

Re: Attn: Beth re: Butterflies
My friend believes that ladybugs are her mother. In the dead of winter, she kept seeing one in her kitchen...strange.
My mother thinks when she sees a penny, it's her mother. My grandmother used to collect shiny pennies and we always put them on her grave. My mom sees them all the time in the weirdest places.
