Avalon Park in Stony Brook

Has anyone ever been there? 1st time I heard about it was last night.
Dogs are allowed on leashes.
I took one of my dogs there for a walk and it's so pretty and peaceful. Avalon Park & Preserve

Just thought I would share since I know there aren't a lot of parks that are dog friendly.

You are awesome!! Thank you!!! Chat Icon

We've walked Brinkley right past this park, not even knowing it was there. And so close to home too, that's great.

Oh good! I'm glad I was able to share my new find!
I walked/drove past this place so many times also and never knew it was there!

It's such a great area to walk around. I love it up there.

We went today! Chat Icon

What a well maintained park! I was really surprised at how nice it is. Even if it wasn't dog friendly, I would walk there anyway. They really keep the trails clean and tidy, and the areas where there are ponds, benches, and planted flowers are just gorgeous.

We got to the labyrinth section and I had a moment of deja vu. I realized that I was looking at the area Kittythestray had her day-after shots taken. Anyone who is an '06 LIW bride knows what I'm talking about, that Angelica Glass shoot.

Anyway, it was great and like 5 minutes from home. A word of caution though - there are absolutely no garbage cans around. I always bring extra bags with me and although Brinkley didn't relieve himself at all, someone else left their dog's poop right on the wooden boardwalk! I was Chat Icon ! So I used my own bags to pick it up, I couldn't let that ruin anyone else's experience. We put the bags in a bucket in the trunk and threw it out when we got home.

I wouldn't consider it stroller friendly.
There are a lot of steps...not big steps...but the type when you're walking one level to the next on a path (if that makes any sense). And the path would be a bit narrow for a stroller and dog.
