Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
I know it can vary a LOT, but if you had to say the average age that a child would be about 33+ lbs, what would that be? 3 years old?? Older?
ETA: Along with the above question, do you think this car booster seat would be good for 3+ year olds? (Says its for children 33-100 lbs).

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
My DD is turning 4 next week and she's 34 lbs.
I wouldn't buy a booster seat without a 5 point harness.

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
Probably around 3 years. Though my 2 year old is already 30.
The seat will be fine, it's main function is to make sure the seat belt fits your child properly in your car. In some cars, the seats w/ a back do not fit and you would HAVE to use a booster that is backless like the one you have in your post. When I had a small car, I HAD to use that style with DD. Now that I have a larger SUV, I'll likely use the ones w/a back...but in DH's car, the backless....it's a smaller car.

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
Well, my younger DD turned 2 in May and is a "bigger" kid and she was 30.5 lbs. My older DD was 31.25 at her 3 year check-up and she's average for a girl. So, I would say between ages 3-4.
As for that booster, I don't think it's appropriate for a 3 year old. I don't think kids are really supposed to be in a booster until age 4 anyhow. That one looks like something my 6 year old nephew would use.

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
Thanks everyone! I was thinking to get it for either my godson or my nephew (both 3 1/2 years old), but don't know their weights. This is the GaGa deal on right now... Hmmm not sure if I should get it or not...

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
My son will be 5 in October and he is like 38 pounds. I have a high back booster that has a 5 point harness, but the 5 point harness is then removed and you use it like a regular booster with the seatbelt.
I bought it in Target for maybe $50 or so. Its great!

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
Those types of booster seats should only be used at a MINIMUM of 4 years old. They should stay in the 5 point harness longer than that. I switched DS over to a similar type of booster on his 6th b-day, and plan on doing the same with DD.

Yep! The Graco Nautilus would be a much better choice....

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
My DS is over 2 and is 29lbs.
My friend's kids are 4.5 and 6 and use boosters like that, but she said her 4.5 JUST went intot one and they still use 5 point harnesses in their "main" car

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
I wouldn't use that booster with my 3 year old. I don't think a 3 year old is old enough to sit properly in that seat. He is 36 lbs. I have a backless booster in my DH's car and really only my 6 1/2 year old sits in it. Once in awhile my 5 yr old.

By the way, thanks everyone. I was going to purchase it since it was a great deal and use it with my 6 yo niece, but I missed out on the GaGa deal.
Thanks!

Re: Average age of 33lb child?? AND booster seat question
my DD will be 3 in 4 weeks, she weighs 30 lbs and has weighed that for months. I don't see her being 33 lbs until 3 1/2 maybe even 4. She only gained 3 lbs from her 2nd birthday until now.
My 20 month old is 29-30 lbs right now. I think she will hit 31-32 lbs by her second birthday.
