Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger Announce Their Separation
The summer of the breakup claims another casualty. Avril Lavigne announced on Instagram Wednesday that she and Nickelback groaner Chad Kroeger are splitting up after a little more than two years of marriage.
"It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today," Lavigne wrote with a photo from the couple's wedding day in July 2013. "Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support."
The announcement comes just days after Lavigne's first ex-husband Deryck Whibley got remarried to Ariana Cooper.
The couple has been dogged by rumors of a split for months. Last November, Kroeger laughed it off.
"You know my dad calls me up and he's just like, 'I haven't slept in 2 days, what's going on?' I'm like, 'Dad you're not buying all this crap are you?' You know, I get to hear all the rumor mill stuff," Kroeger told ET Canada. "I find it very amusing."
It's not been an easy year for Lavigne who, in April, announced that she'd spent much of the end of 2014 and the beginning of this year nearly immobilized from Lyme disease.
Then again, Lavigne was recently a guest of friend-du-jour Taylor Swift's on a stop during her 1989 World Tour. And it's Kroeger who was responsible for this nightmare, so maybe things are looking up for everyone's favorite Canadian punk princess.
