my cat used to climb the fire place when he was a kitten... he has totally calmed down though... take some pictures!! I even have one where he got a tissue box totally stuck on his head!

Yeah they can be a bit crazy...
My kitten did the same thing, but he has calmed down. Be relieved that it does stop. Watch out about the screens. One of our screens ripped when we werent home. Luckily the cats didnt escape.
