Babi Italia crib furniture

I went into Babies R Us during my lunch hour to take a look at what they had and I liked the Babi Italia furniture

Here's a one that I saw (one in Espresso and the other Tea Satin):

Does anyone have them or know anything about them as far as safety ratings and such? I'm having hard time finding that kind of info on them.

I also want to check out Behrs and Bellini too.

Re: Babi Italia crib furniture

I love this set but a store manager at BRU didn't have the best things to say. Mostly, she criticized the crib with the drop down. She said that the floor model breaks every week and they keep having to put out a new one. She also said that the set is a very soft pine. She said that there have been recent delivery issues with the company but she does not expect that to be a lasting problem. I am glad that some people have good experiences to report. The set is gorgeous!

It gets decent reviews from the Baby Bargains book -- A- rating for the parent company, Bonavita and it's a brand recommended as "Better" along with Sorelle.

You can't see everything that's in the book, but I found this review part of their website:

Re: Babi Italia crib furniture

we have this set for our nursery (DS not born yet). So far we like it, seems very sturdy with the exception of one thing which I probably should bring to the attention of BRU. The piece on the dresser that acts as the perimeter to the changing table is not sturdy. For some reason ours moves around a lot and doesn't seem like it should. Also, there is a hutch to the dresser but be aware that they are having inventory problems with it and we're not sure at this point if they will ever get it in. Just in case you wanted that piece too (we did for space issues). Overall though I love the way it looks and I think the changing table is more of a defect to my piece versus a problem with the product overall.

I noticed the piece you are talking about on the dresser. In the store I just thought it was the way they assembled it.

As far as the other piece goes. Are you talking about the shelving piece that goes on top of the dresser? I really liked it but my concern with that was changing the baby under it. I just didn't like the fact of having shelving about the baby. I wish I saw a piece that was off to the side or something.

Re: Babi Italia crib furniture

My DH seems to think that the one in the store wasn't as loose as ours. I'm going to tell them about it anyway to see if there is something they can do to stabilize it.

And yes, I was referring to the piece on tops with the shelves. I thought exactly what you did about not wanting to change him with them on top but when I actually went back to the store to look at it it seemed as if the shelves were set back a little so that you still had room for changing. Plus, after we had our shower it became really clear that we needed more storage space for books, keepsakes and stuff. So we went back to order it and found that they were having trouble getting in stock. Last I heard they were expecting a shipment in so I have my fingers crossed. Good Luck. I still really love the set!
