Babies and Health Insurance
How did you get your babies on your health insurance w/out having their social security #? My insurance is asking us to send his SS#, but he'll need to see the doctor before he has one.

Re: Babies and Health Insurance
When I called my insurance from the hospital, they just took the baby's name, dob, etc. and added her to the policy. They didn't even ask me for a SS#. I needed that when I filled in the paperwork from my HR department a few weeks later.

Re: Babies and Health Insurance
Our insurance just put both DC under DW's SS# for the first few months. I forget how long you can do that, but for the first several months, they realize that DC won't have a SS# yet.
ETA: They might have just given them a "temp" SS# in their system.... I honestly don't remember now. Either way, you don't need their real SS# for a while.
