Babies and the pool...
Is it safe to let a three month old go into a pool?

Ask your Dr. I can't remember if mine told me 3 or 4 months.

Re: Babies and the pool...
We took Jeremy to Curacao when he was just 3 mo. He loved it! Don't let him get any water in his mouth due to the chemicals and other yucky stuff. Just be careful with the sun though. It is not recommended to use sunscreen until they are 6mo (my doc approved for DS to use it at 3mo though. Just check with your doc)

my doctor said it was fine; she was more worried about the sun.

Re: Babies and the pool...
I would check with the pediatrician.
I didn't with my dd (born in June). One thing I do remember is the ped telling me that you need to be very aware that they are born with very little fat on their body & have a tendency to get colder quickly.

Re: Babies and the pool...
We didn't check with our ped...
My DS was born in June (early June) and towards the end of July we put him in the kiddie pool. At first we just let his toes get wet and then we sat him in it but we held him of course and he was not in for that long.
Check with your ped...

Re: Babies and the pool...
Our pediatrician said it was okay, but DS is over 6 months. She was also more concerned about the sun, and he does get cold quickly, so definitely watch for signs of shivering.

Re: Babies and the pool...
My ped said it was ok just to watch for him to get cold quick. They also said to wash him right after to get the chemicals off his skin.

Re: Babies and the pool...
They start swimming lessons as early as 2 months so yes, it is fine. Just keep them shaded as much as possible. It is also ok to put some sunscreen on their cheeks and nose because the reflection from the sun on the pool surface could burn their skin easily. Maybe a rash guard suit would be best. Have fun
