Re: Babies in Movie Theatres
Posted by ckdk
I am a mother and I don't think that a baby has any place in a movie theatre.
Agreed. It's not fair to the other patrons.
That being said, there are plenty of adults who know longer no how to behave in a movie theater.
I wonder if this woman is like many of the women who sit in front of me and brag to their GF about their doctor/lawyer/stock broker son for the entire movie

Re: Babies in Movie Theatres
as soon as hannah got on a pretty reg schedule, i brought her to the movies, bc i knew exactly when she was going to sleep. i think this woman is a crab ***, and jumped to conclusions-
as a new mom, and breastfeeding, it is tough to get out for even an hour, let alone a couple hours to catch yourself a movie! and forget about it- you women really think youll be comfortable with your infant at home wondering if they are missing you and needing you? no way....
so i got some time and fun for myself, and didnt have to wonder if whoever was taking care of my 2,3,4,5 month old baby was doing a good job.....i took her to plenty of movies, and she never once made a peep- she either slept, and if she didnt sleep, she was breastfeeding....and now shes 11 months old, and would i take her now? no way- would i take her at 6 months? no way- she was crawling and DEF would not sit in a car seat for 2 hours....but thats a mother knowing her childs limits...
but it is also about being considerate- if DD ever cried or fussed, i wouldve walked out, that simple....so i say go ahead and take your DC to the movies- you know them best as your parents and how they will behave....this woman is a rag and automatically jumped ot conclusions about this mother and child- that poor baby may have been the BEST baby in the world, and the women may never have known she was even there had she not seen the stroller....

Re: Babies in Movie Theatres
What if you have no family nearby or anyone who can babysit your child. Are you supposed stay home forever? I think the letter writer was a crab @ss.
I would bring Jenna to a movie, but the minute she cried or was bothersome to other patrons I would leave.
ITA about the adults, some of them have NO MOVE ETIQUETTE

Re: Babies in Movie Theatres
When I was on maternity leave I used to take Noah to the pictures every Thursday...it was the best thing ever. We both loved it....
It was a parent and baby showing, but I probably wouldn't bring my baby to a regularly scheduled film.

Re: Babies in Movie Theatres
I took my DD when she was about 2 months old to a movie that my son wanted to see. She was fine. She was hanging out on my lap and then when the movie started she watched for a few min and fell asleep. I made sure I had a bottle ready for her when she woke up. She never made a peep.
I used to take my DS from the time he was an infant also and even as a toddler. I think that is why he has always been very well behaved in a movie theater. You can't shelter your child or yourself. You just have to know their limits and if they start crying you get up and leave. I never had the problem though. I plan on taking DD to more movies so she does know how to act.
As for that crabby women she sounds like a real witch. Probably has nothing else to do but complain.
