Babies that STTN

How old were they when they started and how many hours do you consider STTN?

Re: Babies that STTN

about 7 weeks, and 7 hrs

eta: now at 4 mos, he goes 10pm to 9-10am most days. he has a late bedtime, always did. just like mommy and daddy. I'm thankful for this, because I don't even get home from work until 6:15!

Re: Babies that STTN

from birth to about 1 month DD slept from 12am - 5am

1 month - 2 months 11pm - 6am

2 months - 3 months 10pm - 7am

3 months - 4 months 9:30pm - 7am

4 months + (she is 5 months today) 8pm - 7am

to me anything over 6 hours is STTN

Re: Babies that STTN

She started with 5 hour stretches from day one, then by 6 weeks old, she was doing 8 hours a night and by 10 weeks, she was sleeping 12 solid hours a night. The trade off was always that she wasn't a napper, but we never cared as long as she slept at night.

Re: Babies that STTN

Ds was 5 weeks when he started STTN. "They" consider STTN any time during the night where they sleep for a 6 hour stretch.

Re: Babies that STTN

DD slept 4 hours stretches from birth to about 4 weeks

4-6 weeks 4-5 hours
6-8 weeks 5 - 6.5 hours
8-10weeks 6.5 - 7.5
10+ weeks shes been STTN (I consider it STTN at 7+ hours) doing 8+ hours consistantly

Re: Babies that STTN

At 8 weeks, 9pm-8am... at about 10 weeks 8pm-8am. Both kids, same age. Prior to 8 weeks, like 5 or 6 it was about 7 hours from what I remember. The second baby seemed easier, but I think that was b/c I was more at ease with everything.

DS is 3 months old and started to do some 6 hour stretches recently. He had one or two 6 - 7 hour stretches several weeks ago but nothing consistent. DS if EBF, I think it's harder for them to go as long since BM doesn't hold them as long as formula.

Re: Babies that STTN

DS USED to sleep through the night! He always had a late bedtime, but would usually go from about 10pm until 7 or 8. He did that from about 8 to 12 weeks or so. After that he started to go to bed a little earlier, usually between 9 and 10, but wake sometime between 3 and 5 to eat, then back down until 7 or 8. He wasn't feeling well a few weeks ago and fell into some really bad habits - namely, waking every hour Chat Icon But we've just been working on kicking that habit and he's currently going from about 9 or 10 until between 3 and 5 and then back down for about 7.

To me, STTN has more to do with the time they wake up than the time they go to bed if that makes any sense! Chat Icon I think anytime after 6 or so is an acceptable wake-up time, so if he went from as late as 11 until 6am, then I would say that's STTN even though bedtime was late.

ETA: DS is EBF

My boys started sleeping through night at 9 months after doing CIO. They are 10 months today and prob. would still be waking every hour if I didn't do CIO.

DD has been sleeping 6 hours since 5-6 weeks. Now she sleeps 8 hours, going to bed around 10 and waking around 6 (she's 9 weeks). I'm waiting for her to sleep 12 hours! Chat Icon

Re: Babies that STTN

Thank you everyone. My DD is almost 6 weeks and she eats every 4-5 hours. Expect for her 1:30-2am feeding. It's like clockwork. This is the ONLY time she wakes up after 3 hours to eat.

Her sched. has been:
5:45-6pm bottle
7:30 bath
8:00 i put her in the bassinet
10pm she wakes for another bottle
1:30-2am
7-7:15am

I dont know if I'm putting her down too early? She is all smiles at 2am. Takes her a good 25 minutes to fall back asleep where usually she goes right down.
