Baby Asprin
If you took baby asprin when you got pregnant, how long did you take it for? My RE told me to take it as soon as I got pregnant, which I did. My OB just told me to stop taking it at 12 weeks, which I did. However, now I'm reading that some people take it their entire pregnancy. Early on I was diagnosed with MTHFR. I am woried that I should still be taking it now. What are you doing?

Re: Baby Asprin
I took it, as soon as I found out I was preggo per the advice of my Dr. I took it until I had some bleeding at like 12 weeks or so...then the bleeding stopped and I started taking it again every day. I believe my Dr. had me take it b/c there is a history of stroke in my family and my blood work came back showing that I had some sort of thrombophelia and something about the 4G/5G...I don't know all the specifics obviously! But I understood it as being more prone to clotting than the average person.
When I started going to the high risk/specialist towards the end of my pregnancy he said that the baby asprin "saved" me. I had a lot of calcifications in my placenta (clotting, more than average).
The high risk Dr. also advised that I take the asprin every day for 3 months pp. My reg obgyn is advising only taking it for 2 weeks.
Definitely double check w/your Dr. and see what he says!

Re: Baby Asprin
i am always on a baby aspirin, pregnant or not. so, i have to continue taking it throughout my pregnancy. in fact, i also end up having to take shots of lovenox which is a blood thinner while i'm pregnant (also did so with my son). i have thrombophilia (whihc is a higher risk for clotting)....i know there are different levels of it, so not everyone needs to take it. lucky me! haha...anyway, i would just check with your doctor and see what his advice is. good luck!!!

Re: Baby Asprin
I also have a thrombopilhilia(a few actually) I am not currently PG but when I TTC I have to be on 1 baby asprin, 40 mg of lovenox 2x per day and vitamin e (which helps to prevent clotting)

Re: Baby Asprin
I am on baby aspirin, Lovenox injections (blood thinner) and Foltx (Rx B6, B12 & folic acid) to prevent clotting. I will continue on Lovenox throughout my pregnancy and 6 weeks pp. The other 2 I am on for life. I have 3 genetic thrombophilias including MTHFR and 2 aquired auto immune antibodies. Since you have been dx'ed with MTHFR I would ask for a referral to see the perninatologist. You should be monitored more closely to watch out for clots. I am not trying to scare you just to keep you informed. Good luck

Re: Baby Asprin
I started taking baby aspirin when I found out that I was pregnant. My peri has told me that I will be on them until I deliver. I was found to have a clotting disorder after my last pregnancy. I was supposed to also have lovenox but the dr. felt that the aspirin was enough.

Re: Baby Asprin
I was diagnosed with MTHFR also but my peri told me I had the best case possible. He told me to continue with baby aspirin every day as well as the increased folic acid.
