Baby Bedding - Question
This may be a silly question ... but I am a little confused ...
We all seem to register for baby bedding, but then baby cannot have bumpers in their crib or blankets on their bodies until they are older. So why do we get bedding so early? WHat do we do with it - put it in a closet until they are ready?
Just my randomess for today...

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
You can usually register for the separate pieces instead of getting the set, then you can leave out the bumpers.
I got the set, and I'll see how I feel about the bumpers and if I'll keep them or not.

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
My son had bumpers from day one. He was in the crib at 1 week old.
The comforter is a waste even when the baby gets older.
FOr this baby I bought pieces instead of a set.

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
It's more for decoration than anything else for me. The baby will be in the cosleeper in our room for the first few months anyway. Until then, the bumpers will stay in. Once she transitions to the crib- bumbers will come out.
We will be hanging the quilt on the wall with decorative clips.

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
I kept the bumpers in...... my bedding came with more of a blanket then a quilt, and I use it for our floor time........

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
I think it is a better idea to buy them separately. I used bumpers but you really won't use the quilt on the baby..maybe on the floor. I used the bedskirt for decoration. You really don't need any of them!

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
it seems like I am stressing over boy bedding versus girl bedding and constantly searching for the perfect bedding and I am thinking, why? It's so expensive and by the time the kid could actually use it I probably won't even like it anymore. Maybe I am better off with valences, bedskirts, and other decorations and keeping the sheets/etc netural.

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
I was just thinking about what a waste the bedding I got for DD was so when I saw this post I figured Id let you know since Ive BTDT - -
DD is 10 mths old. I bought a beautoful bedding set that was very pricey....we never used the bumpers, or the quilt. I did put the skirt on the crib but it definately wasnt a must. Id just get lots of pretty sheets for the crib and save your $$. just my opionion...thats what Ill do with baby #2 when the time comes....
good luck!

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
I bought separate pieces for my first, because they only offered it that way.
This baby - I feel bad, but I just really want to have a sheet in the crib and be done with it. I think it's better to decorate when they are a bit older and they will appreciate it more.

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
Thanks ladies for your opinions. I kind of feel the same way ... I love love love lookinga t bedding, but of course I like all the expensive ones and I am thinking it might be a waste. We'll see when the time comes, but I'll probably decorate around the crib with curtains, wall decor, skirts, rugs etc but maybe get bedding after 1 year old.

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
With ds I had a set and never used the comforter. This time I plan on just getting the bumper and coordinating sheets.

Re: Baby Bedding - Question
I skipped it all together. His doctor wants a completely bare crib. No blanket, no bumpers...he's the doctor, so I listened.
Its really expensive and against all SIDS guidelines. It never made sense to me, so I took all the bedding money and put it towards my stroller
I figure we will just start fresh with his "big boy bed"
I have the symphony is motion moblie anyway which would never match a thing. We have sheer cloud curtains up, and DH had bought a ton of snowflakes for the windows, door, and hung them from the ceiling. Crib is white, it looked really good. Now DH bought a bunch of summer stuff to put up in his room, its a cheap/safe way to decorate.
We did purchase the breathable bumpers, I will put them in once his limbs start getting caught.
