Baby Boy Names
I posted previously how my ds1 is named Dominick Michael and I liked Nicholas John for ds2 but was on the fence because it was brought to my attention that "nick" was in both names. I still like the name but am just unsure. I also liked Luca but the name is soooo popular right now that 3 people I know just named their sons Luca. I am looking for some suggestions that goes well with Dominick. My dh does not like very modern names and seems to go with more traditional. Any suggestions would be great...I am 5 weeks from my due date and this name has been stressing me since I found out at 20 weeks the gender

I honestly don't think Dominick and Nicholas are the same at all just bc they both have "nick" in it! I would never think of nick as a nickname for Dominick at all! Just Dom. And Nicholas you could call his full name or nick or Nicky. My husbands name is Nicholas and I call him nick and his family usually calls him Nicky. Here's some more italian traditional boy name: Anthony Tony Joseph Frank Lucas

I don't think that Dominic and Nicholas are too similar at all, but here's some other options you may like.

Re: Baby Boy Names
What about Nico?
Similar to Nicholas but pronounced a bit differently so would eliminate confusion with Dominick.

I agree with the others, Dominick and Nicholas don't sound the same at all. DS is Nicholas so obviously I'm biased and love the name. We call him Nico, you could always do that for a NN.

My son is nicholas and I always loved the name Dominick but I too thought it would sound too similar.
I like Anthony or Vincent if I were to have another boy.

Re: Baby Boy Names
So funny you say that, because if DD was a boy our top names were Dominic and Luca.

Re: Baby Boy Names
I agree, don't think Dominic and Nicholas would have the same nickname, but here are other suggestions I really like, they're Italian names,
Santino Luca Massimo (this was gonna be our name if we had another boy) Dante Rocco Piero Noah (not Italian)

Re: Baby Boy Names
FYI - my DS#1 is Nicholas and if turns out to be a boy, DH and I have recently changed our minds and decided he will be Dominic I dont think Nicholas and Dominic are too similar, in fact I think they go great together! My concern was trying to avoid the nickname "Dom", which I am pretty confident I can do -- for at least the first 6 or 7 years anyway! LOL! Good luck with your decision - but if you like it, I say go for it!!

I hate Dom and so far everyone calls him Dominick. Some people slip and say Dom just because I think people just like to shorten everything. Everyone tells me though once he goes to school he likely will be called Dom but I will always call him Dominick.
