baby care class worth it?
DH and I are really tight on money considering im out of work already due to complicatons. I have taken care of newborns from time to time but DH has never been around one. Just wondering if we should take the baby care class: goes over infant bathing, dressing, feeding and safety. I know we have our moms but i dont want to rely on them especially my MIL whom can be overbearing and stress me out more, and if my mom is here more then it starts a whole fight. Well thanks for any suggestions you have. Im gonna go look at the library for the laugh and learn DVD (should i bother considering im having a Csection)

My DH has NEVER changed a diaper. Live and Learn. I have been around babies since I was 10, they dont scare me. He on the other hand wont hold anyones kids, for fear of breaking them. He will get over it. If money is tight rent a DVD, ask the OB if she has any suggestions. Maybe a local hospital offers something free. When its your kid you just adapt. He will be fine.

Re: baby care class worth it?
we're not taking one... I thought the childbirth class was important, but the baby care class? like a pp mentioned, it's called "live and learn." Although it's great for some people, I think there are too many friggin courses and instruction manuals for everything under the sun. Go with your instinct.

I agree, live & learn. I think some things will just come to you and others you will learn from mistakes. Its part of life.

we are not taking one. i took an infant cpr class and that helped.
I have been around babies/children my entire life. It is like second nature.

Re: baby care class worth it?
We went to a free one at Babies R Us that was given by a pediatrician. We both found it helpful and it answered some of our questions.
I have been around lots of babies, and changed tons of diapers, but never had to care for one full time and had never bathed a newborn. DH had no experience with babies and he was the one that really wanted to take the class. We knew we were pretty much going to be on our own with no help when we got home with the baby, so I think for us, it was worth it.
