Baby feet
I'll start by saying most of the time DD is barefoot, even when we are out. In the colder months she had just socks on. My friend at work said that someone went up to her at the mall and said "thank god you have shoes on that little boy, i hate when people don't put anything on their baby's feet".
Do you think its weird to have a barefoot baby?

Nope, don't think it's weird at all.
When it's cold out, I put socks or shoes, but now he's been going barefoot.

Re: Baby feet
personally, no. I think baby feet are perhaps the most scrumptious things out there. However, I've had similar comments (mostly from older women) about how their feet "MUST be cold" and how that's "not good for a baby." I smile, ignore and go about my business. My guys aren't walking yet so I don't feel the need to put shoes on them constantly.

Re: Baby feet
theres no reason they need socks or shoes when its warm/hot... and when its cold i think just having socks or booties is fine..

Re: Baby feet
My DDs kick their socks off most of the time anyway, so why bother. I have shoes for them that they've worn about 3 times. Now that it is summer they rarely ever have socks on!

I agree. I actually think it looks ridiculous when a 6 month old has Nikes and socks on. Those toes need to be free!

When Julia was small and couldn't walk yet, I never put shoes or socks on her. In the winter I would just keep her in socks, and if we went outside she had her little Ugg boots.

Re: Baby feet
Considering that Ava will not keep a pair of shoes on even if I glue them to her, I actually find it odd when babies have shoes ON.

Re: Baby feet
If they are not walking then there is no need for shoes. My 16mth old is barefoot at home all the time, we only put shoes on her when we go out. When she started to walk I didnt have shoes on her as she was only taking steps. On a couple of occasions when we were in a supermarket she wanted to get down and take steps so we let her...she had socks on...and the amount of comments we used to get were ridiculous...
I would get soo pizzzed at strangers. Its none of their business. I would just answer really loudly to DD" Oh my goodness you have no shoes on...thanks goodness that lady noticed as your daddy and I didnt"...that usually shut them up.

Re: Baby feet
No, it's better for them not to. I put socks and fake Robeez on Liam in the winter, but nothing in the summer. Besides all he does is take them off!

Re: Baby feet
Any pediatrician & podiatrist will tell you that new walkers should learn to walk in bare feet.
The only time I ever put shoes on my kids was to hold their socks on when we went out.
In the summer, they went barefoot.

Re: Baby feet
It's actually better, developmentally, for them to walk in bare feet. The only time Alex has shoes on is when we go out, but even then, it's a struggle because she's quite fond of taking those suckers off. THe only time I can keep shoes on her feet is if I strap her into sneakers and double-knot those suckers!

I was just going to write something similar to this.
We don't even have any shoes for DS.

Re: Baby feet
No shoes here either. I was thinking about buying her a pair of sandals because I have heard the comments too, but I love her feet. She seems to love being barefoot too. So I don't care about the comments anymore.

Same here - she plays with her toes as if they are toys

I always put socks and sneakers on DS and if it is really hot, I put sandals.
It doesnt bother me for babies to be barefoot. I just for some reason always have something on this feet.
