Baby Food....

So my PED recommended trying food with Matthew. I was giving him rice cereal and oatmeal(which he loves).
She said to move on and try apple sauce and fruits such as bananas along with yellow vegetables. She said to try the yellow first before the green because they can be gassy.
So which ones should I try?
Who has the biggest selection of baby food? The supermarket, Target? or BRU?
Thanks.....my boys are growing up, cant believe one of them is on foodsChat Icon

Re: Baby Food....

Target has a pretty good selection, but so do the grocery stores. I'd start with sweet potatoes. They're a good consistency for a first food, and bananas are good, too. Just make sure to give him a little extra water so he doesn't get constipated from the bananas. You can introduce it by mixing it into the cereal at first.

Re: Baby Food....

It is entirely up to you as far as what you want to try first. I did fruits first, apples, bananas, etc. If I were to do it again I'd do veggies first because she never really developed a taste for them in babyfood and maybe if she had them first she'd have liked them more, over fruits or at least just as much.

However, I do have to say that as a toddler, she does like many veggies quite a bit. She's a fan of green veggies, like brocolli and peas, now.

As far as the stores that have the best selection, I was always happy with both Pathmark and Target's selection. I didn't go out of my way to go to BRU or anything like that because these stores carried everything and I was there anyway on the weekends doing grocery shopping.

My dr recommended alternating introducing a fruit and then vegetable so that they don't get used to sweets only and then not want the vegetables.

So that is what I have been doing.
I have gotten all the food from
Stop and Shop, they have every fruit/veggie, Walbaums by me only had like 2 of each.

I never looked at the selection at Babies r us.

Re: Baby Food....

I did veggies first...and Kerri still eats them all even after tasting fruit.

Squash is another good yellow veggie
