Baby Gap size
I have found that most of their stuff runs kinda big...
But, sasha is 6 months as of Monday-- and I am just wondering what sizes to get for fall/winter clothes. It would suck if I need to get all new stuff in the middle of winter.
eta-- she is tall and skinny. 85% for height, and 50% for weight (as of her last check up). And for things like a coat-- if she could wear something like late Fall, early Spring too-- that would be great-- or is that a pipe dream?
Help!!

Re: Baby Gap size
I got my DD mostly 12-18 months for fall/winter...
Right now I have her in 6-9 months, but since she wears primarily dresses etc...its a bit deceiving because I "think" had she needed to be wearing say jeans, she'd already be in 12 months right now
ITA Gap runs on the bigger side....

she's a little older than Sash though-- I think.
I guess-- better it be a little big, than her grow out of it too soon.

Re: Baby Gap size
Chloe is 7 months old, 75% for height and 90% for weight and the 6-12 month gap stuff is still roomy on her. I tried a pair of the 12-18 month jeans on her the other day and they were about 3-4 inches too long and roomy around the waist. I got her warmest coat in 18-24 because I figure if she almost fits into 6-12 at 7 months, but 12 months, an 18-24 will be big, but wearable.
For stuff I wanted her to wear this fall I got her 12-18. For the deep winter, 18-24.
And then I got her two too cute outfits in 6-12 that she can wear right away and will actually fit her properly!
HTH.
Buying in advance sucks.

Re: Baby Gap size
DD will be five months next week and is about the same percentiles. I am buying 6-12 months. I think they should last through the winter and early spring.

thanks-- I just got a couple of things because up until now, I drastically overbought even basics.
She has an entire drawer (a big one) of pants. Pants! She has more pants than me.
I am trying to only buy stuff as needed-- I don't have the room anyway!

Re: Baby Gap size
I was wondering what to do myself.. I find that the Gap runs big too. Chloe will be 6 months on Monday and I just tried on a pair of 6-12 months jeans on her and they are big. I plan to buy 6-12 month stuff for the fall and wait to buy winter stuff until I have a better handle on what size she will be. I am the worst at buying ahead of time.. I always end up overbuying

Re: Baby Gap size
I won't buy anything in advance anymore. I've been burned pretty much since they were born since they were so small. They are now 7 months, and they JUST started wearing 3-6 months a few weeks ago. However they went from still fitting in 0-3 a month ago, and all of a sudden they are fitting well into 3-6, so I think they grew a lot the past month. I cannot predict what they will be wearing 2, 3 months or more from now. I figure the fall things that are out now will be on clearance by September and I will better know then what size to buy them.

Re: Baby Gap size
You guys think gap runs BIG?!??!
Gap and old navy I find run SO small. I was at old nacy today and the 12 month stuff there is NO WAY a 1 year old child would fit in. I bought DD 6-12 months stuff for now.

I was thinking the same thing. I buy alot of gap clothes and I find most of fits him exactly when it should. (DS is 50% height/50%weight). I just ordered a few items from Gap/Old Navy for the fall/winter. DS is in 3-6 months right now, and it is starting to get a little tight, but still fits. I bought 6-12 month and I figured it will only get me to Dec/Jan. I couldn't see him being in that size past that.

Re: Baby Gap size
I find their runs true to size and slightly smaller on shirts. DD is 21 months and has been wearing 18-24 pants and 2T tops since the beginning of summer. She's 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height.
I feel their coats/jackets run small. Last year when she was 12 months, I bought her fall coat in 2T.
I wouldn't be worried about having to buy stuff mid season. I feel like winter type stuff is out for quite a while. Maybe stock up on a few things now and re-evaluate in November or something like that.

I think Gap is HUGE!! (can't really speak for ON b/c I don't really shop there, boys selection is terrible)
Christopher is two and wears mostly 18-24 months, 24 months and 2T, but can still wear 12-18 months in Gap!

Re: Baby Gap size
now that is funny because i always found that gap and old navy ran small... i think they have shorter bodies which ds has a very long body.... once they are past 6 mo size in ga then the go to 6 month intervals though

This is my conclusion too. My DD has the same stats but at 2.
As an infant she was always a string bean and I always bought clothes that would fit her length because almost all of their pants have the adjustable waist. I also put her in a lot of leggings. At one my DD was wearing 12-18 months. At 6 months DD was still wearing 3-6 months from their and I think around 9 months I started putting her in 6-12 months.
My rule of thumb though is I ALWAYS read the size charts on everything from every store and usually go by that. If my kids fall to close to the top of the limit for a size I go to the next size especially if it is for in between season cloths like fall or spring.

Re: Baby Gap size
i always thought gap ran very true to size until i had my dd..she is 7 months old (as of yesterday) and is wearing 0-3 in shorts and dresses..3-6 in pants (but only for the length, the waist is huge on her) 3-6 in shirts.. i am buying 6-12 for the entire fall/winter..i dont foresee her body type changing, even if she does gain a few lbs, she is very petite.
